Tena's PhotoAs a young girl Tena use to watch Jack Lalane (often called the “Godfather of Fitness”) on television and knew she wanted to do what he was doing….helping people stay healthy. She began her healthcare career in pulmonary medicine as a Respiratory Therapist. As a therapist, Tena specialized in critical care working the neonatal and adult intensive care units at the local hospital. She also taught respiratory therapy at Lamar University and became the educational coordinator for the respiratory therapy department at the hospital. At Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, Tena was a vital member of the cardiac arrest team, organ transplant team, and emergency room staff where she worked endless hours providing intensive life saving measures. After working 10 years with critically ill patients, seeing their lack of health constantly reminded Tena of her original motivation “Jack Lalane” and her desire to assist people with healthy living and quality of life. She returned to college for a degree in Exercise Physiology and nutrition and in 1987 Tena opened her first preventive medicine practice offering nutrition and exercise counseling as well as massage therapy. Over the next ten years, Tena studied hundreds of esoteric healing techniques with masters in the industry developing an incredible capacity to “read” the body, mind, and spirit of her patients.  Her endless desire to promote balance and health once again was the driving force that compelled her to go back to school and become a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental medicine in 1998.  Through all her studies and experiences in both western and eastern medicine Tena has taken her innate gift of healing, her passion for healthy living and become one of the most well recognized “healer’s in the city.

“One of the most powerful tools in the ancient art of oriental medicine is the ability to categorize symptoms, to make a diagnose, and treat the condition according to oriental guidelines said Tena Scarber, founder of Innovative Healing Center. I work closely with many physicians in the Dallas area to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients. I often refer my patients to western medical doctor for tests, evaluations and treatments when signs and symptoms point to serious medical conditions. Once serious medical conditions have been ruled out, I work closely with patients to design individualized wellness programs that encompass acupuncture, herbs/vitamins, and exercise for restoring balance and health. The body has an innate intelligence that can heal itself when given the right combination of therapies.”

She adores her patients and loves life. A dream come true!!!!
